The Yukon Quest organizers ordered 1,000 Nanook Beanie Babies as a special fund-raiser for injured musher Peter Zimmerman. They can be identified by the black-and-white ribbons worn around the neck of each one, and the numbered certificate included with each one. Yukon Quest Nanooks now bring a premium price in the collectors' market.
Some of those Yukon Quest Nanooks were kept by the organization, and one is accompanying each musher for the entire duration of the 1999 Yukon Quest. The list below is a complete list of the numbers of the Nanooks, with the name and bib number of the musher.

Note that Nanooks #1 and 2 will not be up for auction - Nanook #1 will be presented to Peter Zimmerman, and Nanook #2 will receive a highly visible place of honour in the Yukon Quest Store in Whitehorse.
