1998 Yukon Quest
World's Largest Dog Team
On October 24, 1998, the organizers of the Yukon Quest,
"The Toughest Sled Dog Race in the World", set a world's record for the largest dog team ever to pull a load.
With 210 huskies in harness, a Kenworth with a flatbed trailer and huge loader were pulled up Front Street in Whitehorse for
a total of 5 blocks.
For 1999, the attempt will be to break that record by hooking up 220 dogs to a similar load
(see press release). For $35 US ($50 Canadian), you can
sponsor one of the 220 dogs - you get a commemorative dog tag, and a chance to win a 7-day Caribbean cruise for 2. Those sponsoring more than 1 dog also
get a photo of the event.
